The Story of Tech Community Nexus

The technology sector is one of the most dynamic and innovative areas of the global economy, with a diverse and engaged community of entrepreneurs, developers, investors, and enthusiasts. Technology is central to the biggest companies in the world.  Technology fuels the startup landscape.  And technology is at the core of transformation for companies of all shapes and sizes.

In Ohio specifically, technology is HOT, with massive investment dollars being driven by high tech companies coming to the state and an aggressive move by state government to push Ohio to become the #SiliconHeartland.  Now is the time for technology leaders to step to the forefront and lead the way.

But technology changes fast and it is challenging for technology professionals to keep up with the rapid pace of change.  The best way for technology professionals to keep up is by coming together as a community and learning from each other.

Unfortunately, this is easier said than done.  Building community is hard and not natural for many of the members of the technology community.  Events are a great way to bring people together but are hard work to coordinate.  And many of the current online options for community (Twitter, etc) are more divisive than collaborative.

When it has worked, it has often been done through volunteer efforts of key community leaders or through the establishment of non-profit entities that provide formalization, but many times lack business sensibility.  Or it has been done by companies who go wide, building narrow communities across the country vs going deep and truly embedding themselves with a local or regional technology community.

There is a gap in the market for someone to step in and get this right, someone who understands the development needs of technology talent, someone who has a passion for community and understands how to effectively build and run communities, and someone who understands both business and transformation and who can stand on the shoulders of the many great community leaders that have come before them and can build something long term and sustainable.

We believe that someone with a clear vision can mobilize the technology community across Ohio and elevate this state as THE place to be if you are in technology.  Tech Community Nexus aims to fill this gap and capitalize on the opportunities that the technology community offers.
